It seems that Hollywood heartthrob Orlando Bloom has no trouble jumping from one blockbuster to another after it's been rumoured that he is in talks to join the cast of Angels and Demons.

Tom Hanks has already signed up to reprise his role as Professor Robert Langdon and Gisele Bundchen is also set to star.

What role Bloom will play is uncertain but with an empty schedule Bloom is free to join filming as production is due to start any time. Ron Howard is also rumoured to return to take directorial duties.

Since finishing Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, with Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley, Bloom moved into theatre appearing in David Storey's In Celebration in the West End.

It's Blooms theatre debut, and the first time he has trodden the boards in a decade. The West End is a far cry from Hollywood for the actor who has starred in five of the top fifteen grossing movies of all time before the age of thirty.

The move into the theatre was to bulk up his acting CV as he admits himself he was 'feeling a but thin'. His West End debut has been met with mixed reviews many claiming that it was too small a part to prove himself as a theatre actor.

The actor is also rumoured to be starring in Pompeii alongside Scarlett Johansson and directed by Roman Polanski.

Orlando in the Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Orlando Bloom gives a hilarious interview on Tuesday’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The actor just bought a computer recently… and still hasn’t taken it out of the box yet!

Things get even funnier when one of his biggest fans, Medium’s 10-year-old Maria Lark comes on as the second guest.

When we last brought word on Roman Polanski's Pompeii, the controversial director was looking to snag some top-notch (read: A-list) talent to star in what ultimately will become one of the most expensive European film projects ever (the budget is said to currently be hanging around the $130 million mark). The speculation as to who would be cast in the lead role began, with rumors suggesting that Polanski wanted "a top Italian thesp" to play our hero's beautiful love interest. Well, according to Coming Soon (who wouldn't report on a rumor unless they were pretty sure it was true), Polanski's wish is about to come true as Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson (hey, when did she become an Italian thesp?) are in talks to star in the pic, which will revolve around events that took place just prior to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79.
